Ichabod is pleased that his life is no longer tied to the Horseman’s, but this also means that the Horseman can kill him now without dying himself, so that’s something of a problem. Meanwhile, the Horseman has been decapitating the Freemasons of Sleepy Hollow because it mistakenly believes they have possession of his head, which he needs so that he summon the other Horsemen and begin the Apocalypse. Ichabod and Abbie convince a skeptical Frank that they need the head, which is being held as evidence in a police lab. He goes to collect it and tangles with the Horseman in the process, barely escaping with his life (on the plus side, at least he knows the big guy is real now).
After some help from undead Andy, who is in the Horseman’s thrall but still wants to save Abbie, they use the head as a lure to draw the Horseman into a trap made from both magic and science (a spell to keep him confined and UV light to hold him in place). And that’s it! The Horseman is finally contained!
